We are seeking an experienced GIS / Data Architect to support the development of an interactive, map-based web application that integrates geographic, transit, demographic, and analytical data. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing spatial datasets for interactive dashboards and translating complex geographic information into clear, usable visualizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, integrate, and validate GIS and spatial datasets for interactive mapping and dashboard applications.
  • Work with geographic data including points, lines, polygons, transit corridors, neighborhoods, and other geographic boundaries.
  • Perform spatial joins and integrate geographic information with demographic, displacement, and other analytical datasets.
  • Support interactive mapping capabilities including filtering, selection, highlighting, tooltips, zoom, and geographic drill-down.
  • Ensure consistency of geographic identifiers, coordinate systems, spatial relationships, and mapped analytical results.
  • Apply effective cartographic and visualization practices for both public-facing and internal audiences.
  • Develop repeatable processes for refreshing annual spatial and analytical data.
  • Document GIS data sources, structures, transformations, assumptions, and refresh procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working with GIS and spatial datasets in interactive dashboards, web mapping, or data visualization solutions.
  • Experience preparing and validating geographic layers and integrating spatial and tabular data.
  • Knowledge of spatial joins, geographic identifiers, coordinate systems, and temporal-spatial data.
  • Experience with corridor, transportation, demographic, planning, or similar geographic datasets is preferred.
  • Experience with GIS technologies such as ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, or comparable platforms is desirable but not required.
  • Strong understanding of map usability, data visualization, and accessibility considerations.
